PTPA leadership in 2026 Rhody Parade – let’s have a great turnout!
Our PTPA Vice President Zee is leading our first ever PTPA participation in Port Townsend’s
Saturday, May 16 Rhody Parade. We have ordered a large flag and PTPA banner. Zee hopes
that ALL of us will join him at the start of the Parade line before 1:00 PM in front of the fire
station on Uptown’s Lawrence Street. Let Zee know if you would like to help in organizing.

League action has generated a lot of excitement and action on our courts:

Bekah & Silas Petanque Skills Workshops were a great success
Last weekend 18 PTPA Club members had the extraordinary experience
of spending 2+ hours working with Bekah and Silas, who devoted the
day to teaching us tips on pointing, shooting and Petanque etiquette. It
was transformational for many of us!

Save the date for our July 16 Low Tide Tourney
Robert. One of our most unusual events at Boathaven is the annual Low Tide
Tournament. Robert Force is in charge of this event and would welcome 2-3 volunteers who can assist him in making it happen. Robert reports: Both Wednesday July 15 and Thursday July 16 are ideal. Wednesday low tide is -3.1 at 11:12 am— just before noon. Thursday is not quite as low at -2.4 but it happens at 11:59 which is ideal— right at noon! A suggestion is to schedule our Wednesday club day there at the boatyard beach— let members experience the fun and the nature of that sauvage environment— then have the tournament the next day. Being at the start of the Larry Scott trail, there are public sanicans there. On the 16th we will have select doubles. Random draw. 40-minute plus one end rounds starting at 10. Registration and set-up the hour before. Swiss draw (winners play winners, etc). Three games before lunch. Lunch at 1 pm. Single elimination games start at two— concurs and consolante. Should be plenty of beach left to finish playing. Donations are welcome and will be passed on to Jefferson County Food Bank.

PTPA Board Meeting Minutes April 22, 2026
PTPA Board Meeting 4/22/26 April 22, 2026 11:00am Tayloe Washburn’s Residence
1. Call to Order: Tayloe called the meeting to order at 11:05am. Board members in attendance were: Tayloe Washburn, Zee Uballe, George Engelbeck, Scott Wilson and Terry Cameron-Kling. Sports Director Tom Challinor was also in attendance and Robert Force was a guest.
Tayloe made a motion to approve the March 18th minutes. Zee seconded the
motion and the board unanimously agreed.
2. Finance Update: George reports the clubs finances are currently in good shape with a balance of $13,755.99.
3. Bylaw Revision: The next step is to vote. Scott will resend a copy of the revised Bylaws out. We will give a 1 month notice to members about the upcoming vote on June 7th informing them that the vote will take place on Sunday, July 5th. They will be able to vote in person at the courts. Those unable to attend on July 5th can email their vote to Terry or Tayloe.
4. Committee Update: a. Facilities Committee: Ideas were considered to commemorate other passed players. Possibly another bench or plaques that would be placed along the wood border of the courts. b. Events Committee: Bekah & Silas’ workshops: Huge success and extremely helpful. The board is in favor of Bekah and Silas doing more of these in the
future and that they be available to all level of players.
5. Conduct Council: Tom C & Jean:
a. Tom: Put up Discovery Park passes! We want to stay in good favor with the State Park. Tom C will remind club.
b. Zee recommends reminding players to be patient with newer players.
c. Tom will put notice in them porta-potty about “standing zone” verses sitting zone to help keep porta-potty splatter free.
6. Tournament Update: Tom C
a. Discussion of proper ethics and etiquette in regards to tournaments. Going forward they will run strict and by the rules. Next year an alternate will be mandatory is an idea for the Spring League so if there are unforeseen absences of players there will be another player to take their place.
b. PT Open: Jeanette and Susie have already volunteered to help. Terry will be in charge of recruiting other volunteers for various jobs to help it run smoothly.
c. Low Tide Open, July 15th: Robert’s Plan: Wednesday, Robert will bring scoring equipment. *Needs recorder and sign-in person. Susie Hunter has already agreed to help. Terry will make sure there are volunteers to help move the Pop up Canopies. We discussed having the local beach Sanican cleaned prior to the tournament. George will follow-up how and if we can get it cleaned. Entry fee is a donation. No cash prizes. Part of the money from the donations will go to the Jefferson County Food Bank. Robert requests we provide a cooler with ice and water for participants. Robert will make the
trophies with shells as he has in the past.
7. Rhody Parade (May 16th) PTPA Participation: We will start asking how many club members plan to participate during announcements on club play days. We need at least 12.
